The Royal Canadian Legion was formed in
1926 with a membership of 50,000. The Legion's commitment to the
remembrance of those who gave their lives for peace and freedom is
as valid today as it was then.
Today, the Royal Canadian Legion is
Canada’s largest Veteran support and community service organization.
Our nearly 250,000 members in 1350 branches across Canada
make a difference in the lives of Veterans and their families,
provide essential services within our communities, and Remember the
men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our Country.
As the years take their toll on Canada's veteran population, the
Legion needs the infusion of new blood in order to maintain the many
services provided by The Royal Canadian Legion to communities across
Canada.
Membership was originally restricted to those who had served in
Canada's Armed Forces and Merchant Navy. The Royal Canadian Legion
is proud of its military heritage and still maintains close ties
with the Armed Forces today; however, over the years, categories of
membership have evolved to include other members of the community.
The Legion would love to welcome YOU,
so why not drop in to our Legion branch and see what it's all about.
You have nothing to lose and everything to gain!
Legion Membership
At the 2024
Dominion Convention, an increase to the per capita tax
paid by the Branch was approved. Due to this increase by
Dominion Command, Branch 618 has no choice but to
increase the annual membership dues to $60 and $55 for
Early Bird memberships.
After discussion at the General Meeting on Nov. 12, a
motion to increase the dues effective Feb. 1, 2025, was
moved and approved.
First year of
membership is FREE for Veterans and their spouse.
Stop in and see what the Stittsville Legion is all
about.
It has never been easier to become a member!
Fill out the form, give it to a bartender, pay your dues
and your in!
